According to the administrative division, the country is divided into 43 prefectures (ken), 2 city prefectures (fu), a community prefecture (to) and a special district (do). The capital city of the country is Tokyo, and its official language is Japanese. The public holiday is celebrated on December 23. It is the emperor's birthday.
The culture of Japan is extremely diverse. The country of the blooming cherry trees has an extremely well-established tradition. At the same time, however, it is a center of extraordinary technological development. With its modern buildings, neon streets and manga culture, it seems to be a country of many contrasts. For the inhabitants of Europe, Japan is shocking with its dissimilarity, contradictions and non-obvious behavior. This often causes culture shock.
