Zurich

Zurich is a city on the Z, located on the picturesque lake of the same name in north-eastern Switzerland. The city is famous for its beautiful monuments that attract tourists from all over the world, the most important monuments in Zurich include:

  • Grossmünster Cathedral - is a medieval cathedral, located in the very center of the city, with characteristic towers. It was built in the 9th century and is considered one of the symbols of Zurich.
  • Fraumünster Church - is a church from the 11th century, whose characteristic towers with arches are one of the most recognizable monuments of the city. The church also has unusual stained glass windows by the famous artist Marc Chagall.
  • National Museum - is the largest museum in Switzerland, which is located in a palace from the eighteenth century. The museum has an extensive collection of arts, crafts, natural history and archaeology.
  • Rathaus - is a beautiful Gothic town hall, which was built in the 15th century and served as the seat of the city authorities. Today, the town hall houses councilors' hall, which has retained its original decor.
  • The Zurich Opera House is one of the most important cultural venues in the city. The opera house was built in the 1980s and offers unique opera, ballet and concert performances.
  • Lindenhof Castle - is a historic fortress, located on a hill in the city center, which was an important place of defense in the past. Today, the castle is a popular walking spot and a viewpoint overlooking the city skyline.
  • Zoo in Zurich - is one of the largest and most important zoos in Europe. In the zoo you can see over 400 species of animals, as well as take part in numerous attractions and events for children and adults.
