Hamster

The animal on H can be seen on land almost anywhere in the world. A hamster is a field mouse - a mammal from the hamster family. These animals exist mainly as pets.

It is petite, covered with short hair and has strong teeth. The main ingredients on the menu are seeds, insects and some vegetables.

Homar

Crustaceans belong to the tenth order - animals with two front legs turned into claws, the remaining 8 legs are mainly used for movement. The American lobster is the heaviest representative of all crustaceans. It occurs naturally along the northeastern coasts of the United States and Canada. However, due to its high culinary value, it is bred in many parts of the world.

Hippo

An animal that starts with the letter H belongs to the hippo family. Its areas of occurrence are rivers and a lake located south of the Sahara. Adult specimens are up to 5 m long, 1.5 m high and weigh up to 3 tons. The second living hippo is the pygmy hippo, found almost exclusively in Liberia. It is an endangered species.

Horse

The animal that starts with the letter H is the horse. It is a species of mammal of the equine family. The horse was first domesticated around 3500 BC in modern Kazakhstan. They are characterized by a wide range of colors.

Heron

Heron - an animal beginning with the letter H. It is a family of birds of the pelican order, which today has over 67 species. In Poland, we will meet only eight of them, five of which live in our country permanently. Three species are threatened with extinction, including the white-bellied heron. Instead, five other varieties are classified as vulnerable.

Herons are large birds characterized by a long neck bent in flight and a slender body. Their plumage varies depending on the species - it can be white, gray, black, brown or brindle. These birds are carnivores. The main food of herons is fish, but also other small animals, including crustaceans, amphibians, insects, reptiles, mammals, and birds.

Harbor seal

The common seal is an animal beginning with the letter H. It is a species of predatory marine mammal from the seal family, the most widespread representative of pinnipeds. Seals lead a water-land lifestyle. On land, their movements are slow and clumsy, but they swim brilliantly in water. They can sleep while floating on the surface of the water, under water or on land. They like to lie motionless for hours, basking in the sun.

Harbor seals live mainly in shallow waters, near sandy beaches, river mouths and around small islets. They form colonies of up to several hundred pieces. They do not go on long hikes, they are only 10-15 km away from their habitats. They are very skittish and curious at the same time. They often watch boats or people bathing.

Hyena

A hyena is an animal beginning with the letter H. It is a land predatory mammal. Today it is represented by four species of roses (spotted hyena, striped hyena, brown hyena, striped hyena). Hyenas have a massive build, which may resemble dogs, but they are larger. It is a way of adapting to a predatory lifestyle. Their front legs are longer than their hind legs. Due to being scavengers, these animals have a strong jaw with large teeth and their coat is yellowish gray with black spots or stripes.

Hyenas inhabit semi-deserts, steppes and savannas. We can find them in Africa, Western Asia and India.
